Well, it looks like Abramovich’s little experiment has completely and utterly failed. I mean, a former Liverpool manager was hardly going to get the support of the fans, and Rafa hadn’t even been employed for two years prior to his arrival at Chelsea. I really don’t see where Abramovich was coming from when he made this signing.

Maybe to win trophies? That really failed. We lost the Club World Cup in Japan to Corinthians – surely Benitez can beat a team of this quality. We are out of the Capital One Cup – which we should have won, and we had a close encounter with Brentford in the FA Cup. When RDM was sacked, we were four points behind United, having just lost to them in a close 3-2 encounter marred by poor refereeing. Now we are 16 points behind them and we continue to drop stupid points to worse opposition. I really don’t understand why Abramovich is suddenly being so lenient about results, either. Many Chelsea fans haven’t agreed to many of the sackings that Abramovich has made – especially those of Ancelotti and RDM. Benitez has a worse points to game record than both of them – why in God’s name is he still here?

Maybe to make Torres better? Well that failed.

Maybe, and this is the only positive I can find from his appointment, to play nice football? Jesus, I sound like an Arsenal fan, but I have noticed that we are playing very attractive football – even if the results haven’t necessarily been coming in. Despite this, who really cares about nice football if you don’t win anything?

We need to get rid of him so we can move on. There is the question of who would actually want to manage Chelsea but I feel now, more than ever, Abramovich should sack the manager
