Line can transform himself into different origami forms, like a paper airplane or a frog, to traverse the game’s levels and escape from enemies like giant spiders or the dreaded Roomba, with the ultimate goal of finishing a dream his original creator started. Fans of Playdead’s games Limbo and Inside may find something to like in A Tale of Paper’s side-scrolling 3D perspective and quiet, introspective tone, as well as some shared sensibilities with Little Nightmares and Sony’s own cult-favorite Tearaway.

Starting off as a small demo released on Open House’s page on Itch.io, the game’s quirky yet emotional feel caught the eye of Sony’s publishing arm in Spain, leading it toward a full release as a PS4 exclusive. The game is set for a holiday 2020 release window, and with the PS5 on the way, it seems like Sony isn’t forgetting to send off the current generation with a diverse set of titles for players of all kinds to enjoy.
